Harry 20.09.1999 - 31.05.2011

I wasn't going to write this blog because the emotional parting from my beautiful, gentle and faithful companion Harry Labrador has been so painful and personal to Phil and myself... Even as the days go by it is difficult to speak about him without getting upset. All Harry's extended family my brother mum and dad feel the hole that he has left in our lives. However it feels.... not right at all for me to continue to blog until I acknowledge, if only to myself that he is gone. This portrait picture is one of my favourites and was used on my very first blog where I spoke of my great love for him.

  2. Hi Debbie..Oh friend I am so sorry for you loss of your good buddy "Harry"♥!!
Our pets are so a part of the family and are missed by all when we lose them. I fear any day now my 19 year old kitty friend "Mona" will be leaving me!!
    Hugs of comfort!!

  4. Thanks Sue, Grammie and Keith for your comments, I don't think you actually realise until after your pets are gone just how much you must communicate and interact with them whether it be a pat here and there, a cuddle or silly conversation. It leaves you a bit...lost

  5. I have just been told that Harry is no longer with us...Marjorie and I used to look forward to seeing Harry when Deb took him for a walk past our bungalow and to seeing him laying on our front lawn chewing a stick on the way back...we will miss him...Laurie & Marjorie

  6. I'm so sorry for your loss. I know what it's like to lose a beloved friend. Our Golden Lab, Vern, passed away after twelve wonderful, loving, fun filled years. It took me ten years before I could finally let go and find two new friends to help fill the void. Annie and Otto will never take Vern's place in my heart, but they have made their very own special space in my life.

  7. Thanks Laurie & Marjorie Harry loved taking the air on your lawn and having a quick nibble on his precious sticks,

Welcome Annie, yes labs have big boots to fill, maybe when I retire there will be another fur baby in the house buts that's a good while off yet. Thanks for coming and sharing your story about Vern

  8. I'm sad. Harry took such gorgeous photos and he had the most expressive eyes, didn't he? I'm sad because I know how you feel...have been there and it's not easy.

  9. Thanks Cherylk, your right his eyes were one of his best features. I know all dog owners speak of the intelligence of their own dogs but he had such an expressive cheeky character. If I went to the kitchen to make a brew for Phil and myself I knew before I went back into the living room that he would be sitting right there in my spot on the sofa looking all pleased with himself, he'd would not move his head but would glance up to me with those tricksy eyes of his,and give me that knowing look. He never got tired of pulling that joke with me.
